Hi! I am Hiram Rodriguez and I am a freshman Trombone Performance Major with a concentration in Composition. I was born in Irving, Texas and was raised in the suburbs of Dallas. I began playing music when i was around nine years old when I taught myself piano and guitar. I began playing the trombone when I was in 6th grade. I had the privilege to attend various music programs including the Interlochen Summer Arts Festival in 2013, the Idyllwild Summer Music Program in 2014, TMEA All-State Philharmonic Orchestra in 2014 and 2015, the Eastern Music Festival in 2016, and other music programs across the country. I began composing around freshman year in high school and have developed a passion for it ever since. I have composed pieces for orchestra, band, strings, brass, piano, and others.
My good friend Matt Tuggle and I both decided to take a gap year before going off to college. In that time, I had taught lessons to middle school students, took composition lessons, and prepared a joint recital with Matt.
